LIVE OIL METHOD

Pure goodness from Mother Earth

Innovation & Tradition to complement our own bio-dynamic philosophy.

For our exclusive 'Live Oil' method of harvesting, the latest ALFA LAVAL pressing machine from Italy is used. The method enables us to offer you Extra Virgin Oil that reaches you in exactly the same condition as it has left the press— intact and alive. To protect its goodness and health benefits, we devised a unique procedure to combat oxidation and deterioration for as long as the oil stays in the bottle.

  • Igadi ye-oliva limited edition (delicate) dark bottle 187 ml made from the olives grown halfway up the mountain, whose oil boasts an elevated content of polyphenols but that is soft on the palate with a delicate bouquet, ideal for exquisite preparations of high quality food.

  • Igadi ye-oliva in pouch 1 liter (medium fruity) comes from the lower parts of the olive groves, giving it an exquisite gourmet oil, with a high content of polyphenols and a lot of anti-oxidants.

  • The deep dark bottle will prevent oxidation due to exposure to light.

  • To prevent oxidation caused by contact with air that would be trapped after bottling, we work with inert gases.

  • We cork our oil, like a wine. This beautiful wooden cork is filled with a synthetic stopper so that the oil cannot be affected.

  • Our bottles are smaller than regular bottles (187 ml) for quality reasons. Oxidation and deterioration begin as soon as the cork is removed and the air comes into contact with the oil. Never use large bottles that stay in use for months (would you do that with a wine?). The oil will lose its rich aromas and healing properties. Use small bottles which you finish quickly, we’ve taken care of the rest (quality).

Thanks to this method and to our terroir, our different varieties of olive trees, and the proportion chosen by our Master blender we can offer a "Delicate” and "Medium” olive oil, in pure South-African style. And obtain the same sought-after flavour, year after year.

This is why our olive oil is unique!

The mision, frantoio and manzanila ,coratina, leccino,Noccelara del belice are the principal cultivars used in our oil and grow on the slopes of the Klaasvoogd Mountains, renowned for their micro-climate.

To preserve their flavour and purity, the olives are harvested by hand and pressed according to the highest hygienic quality standards.

IGADI believes in sustainable practices to protect the environment.

"The pouch has broad lifestyle appeal. We have set ourselves challenging targets to reduce packaging waste and reduce our overall carbon footprint. The IGADI pouch is a great example of the innovation we need from our suppliers to contribute to meeting these targets. Spearheading the introduction of pouches in the oil industry shows that it is possible for a brand to impact positively on global issues.

Movement to lighter glass

Pouches are a great environmental solution, but bottles will always have a place. Adopting the initiatives introduced by WRAP – Waste and Resources Action Programme – we have changed from heavyweight glass to a lighter weight. At Igadi ye-Oliva we 'reduce' at every stage of the Supply Chain.
